  1. A good mic to try new stuff. The crowd when I went last week was about 10 people, all comics, almost all doing new material. The crowd and host were supportive to all.

  2. Usually a small crowd, but every one was really supportive and a good place if you have no experience doing comedy. Always try and come early to sign up.

  3. Great mic! If there aren't a lot of people, Eric will give everyone more time, which is awesome.

  4. If you have a rap sheet skip this one, the host is the fuzz!

  5. All the comedians leave after their set to hit the 6pm mic at Eastville and the host will only let you on early if you're his buddy, regardless of what time you got there and if you bothered to buy a drink.

  8. A great mic for what it is. The host gives a lot of time and you have the freedom to work out on your material without pressure of having to kill or impress anybody. Open mics are not shows you don't go to wow anyone just to work your jokes and get better.

  10. Worst open mic in the history of the world. I have been doing stand up on and off for a long time between day jobs in Los Angeles of TV agent for a major agency and then a longtime producer for several major studios. Took off doing comedy for these jobs, came into NYC to promote a movie and decided to do some featured spots this weekend at some other NYC clubs when an old friend called me out of the blue and asked if I wanted to do stand up again, offering me some paid spots. Wanted to practice and dust off the cobwebs at this open mic. Granted, I walked in late due to getting lost and don't expect any special treatment and would never be cocky and tell someone at a club about my day jobs because that is tacky, but they made me pay $6 to perform, some guy working there said I could still get up (I did not expect to get up since I was 20 minutes late and asked if I should head up to Eastville, this is when he said "no problem" and charged me $6), and then the guy who hosts the open mic did not put me up and ended the show, despite the fact I paid. Poorly run open mic, have never seen such a thing in all my years of being in the industry. I have never written a poor review for any establishment, product, or anything in my entire life, but I felt that all the NY comics should be aware of this. No matter how desperate you are for time, avoid this place. Even if you are a beginner, you can find a better spot, and from a former agent's perspective, value your self-worth. You deserve better!

  11. This guy above must have never been to NYC open mic.Self-worth? What's that? My guess is that Mark forgot the guy was there. I don't think he got ripped of intentionally and should have asked for his money back.

  12. I'm a big fan of this mic. As a beginner in stand-up, it's super supportive and easy to try out new material. It's all comics in the audience and some will leave early, but hey, that happens everywhere I've seen. Also, the cover is in the form of a one drink minimum, which I will have whether or not it's required, so it's not a big deal at all.

  13. Truely supportive mic! Mark is a great guy and even when the crowd is light it's still a great environment to try stuff out.

  16. One of my favorite mics to go to. Mark is a high energy host and a super nice guy. Beginners and veterans all get the same treatment and everyone is supporting each other and having a good time.
