  1. Jessica is a very nice host and tries to get everyone on stage quickly. No one sticks around though and the room is kind of dead.

  2. When I went to this mic, it was anything but dead. Get there early if you don't want to wait 2 hours. Most of the comics there were actually funny, including the host who was really nice and kinda hot!

  3. The only funny comic here was this squinty guy with a shaky hand condition who maybe with some luck possibly has a future in comedy. These people all hang out together and meet up on wednesdays at eastville to suck each other's dicks until 8:45. The host looks like live venison. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

  5. Tough, clicky, over competitive room full of haters who wont laugh at ur jokes. A great place to practice bombing.

  6. Strange Mic-half in- the room cleared out- MC included. Funny group of 20 somethings-strange dynamic. After they left- this spooky/sexy girl took over MC- another group -more seasoned comics- worked out bits. Strange times indeed but worthwhile Mic.

  8. not a bad place to get better as a comic , as with any random group of people there are a few assholes but also some cool people. there is a group of arrogant pricks- the group that other comics mean when they say "clicky wannabe hipsters sucking each others dicks".yes, they do strut in from the bar when its their turn, as if they were fucking headlining in vegas.they leave after their sets and only watch if its one of their "club member cool kid butt buddies"on stage. these are people who would tell you they were from brooklyn or the LES but actually grew up in connecticut or some affluent part of long island. i wish they would have gone to my high school. not so i could be friends with them, just so i could have watched them getting the shit beat out of them on a daily basis.the 3 biggest douche bags would be
*some guy who looks exactly like screech from saved by the bell.full of himself twerp ,not funny but def a clubmember, to hear his friends react you would think he was lenny bruce.
*another guy whos act is to take the mic, say "whats up bro's" and stand there in silence or just ask the audience random questions and engage them in awkward conversation. you paid 5 bucks for that? why not just talk to people on the subway?
*im gonna be less harsh with the last of the top 3 douch bags. the only reason he sticks out is because of the way he dresses. he looks and acts like the rich kid from a john hughes film that you want to see accidently drive his new sports car into a tree. altho hes jewish - of course-he comes off as more waspy than the waspiest of the wasps. but he DOES have jokes. he DOES have an act that hes working on and some of his stuff is pretty good.he also has that elitist big man on campus attitude, which is why im lumping him in with the first two cocky jerk offs.
im going to start bringing friends of mine to openly mock these posers and watch them cry. but enough about them.
some of the other black comics have been cool and supportive, and eastville is convenient and you can always get on stage. well run , good hosts, comfortable room, decent size crowd for an open mic,ill be back in a few weeks.

  9. a host does not show up sometimes, in that case, comics take turns. why does this mic even exist?

  10. This mic is good because it's a lottery on Wednesdays and apparently Thursdays so you don't have to show up super early. Sure you might get pulled late out of the bucket but you have at least a 50% chance of having half the people there. I don't know what the crazy guy was saying about it being "clicky", it seems like there are mostly new comics here who don't even know each other.

  11. The absolute worst. I feel badly writing this because the bartender is cool, but the host is a douche. I've been twice and both sucked for different reasons. Last night there were about eight people and the host said "that'll get you on stage" to one guy who made a funny comment. Ha - As if he's in charge of something important. I met solid comedians while there but the host sucked the life right out of the cheesey event. The first time several months ago was crowded but unsupportive to most and everyone left after doing their thing. There may have been twenty people there and I went 2nd to last in front of about three people. Go elsewhere - I will.

  12. an unfunny man goes up on stage and bombs and then wakes up early the next morning and posts immediately on badslava. Why don't you just out yourself anonymous?

  13. Says first come, first serve, but that's not true. It's a lottery system. And it's not even a lottery. The host "picks" names out of a bucket, but only puts the names he wants up first. Extremely clique-y. Gives genuine open mics a bad name.

  14. Cliquiest open mic in NYC. The host doesn't respect the lottery system. Comics that don't suck the host's dick not need bother. Fuck this mic.

  15. Hey anonymous, instead of posting the last three negative comments pretending you're three different people, why don't you just admit you're a middle aged bitter man who went up one time and failed miserably and got no laughs. tell everyone your name

  16. I have been reading the posts, and disagree, I think this is a very good mic, the host Steve, was very good, kept things moving, before the mic started even stated that "some people have gigs" and got them up first, I needed to be out early and he got me up quickly. The lottery system, not that bad, Don't hide behide Anonymous, if there is a problem just say it. I have done this mic before and I think it's one of the better mic's in the city.

  17. The guy posting the negative comments is Brian Gray. He went to Eastville that night and recorded while the emcee was doing comedy in between bringing up comics, something every emcee does. Brian thought he should be rude and told the host "c'mon I'm recording man!" As if he is established and deserves any type of deference.

The host should have thrown him out, but let him go onstage and do his 5 minutes during which he got zero laughs and left the room quickly after he bombed.

Stephen is a good host, he's a male nurse but we all have our faults.
